Twitter Testing Service To Allow Multiple Users To Tweet From One Account

tweet.png

In a move that could make the service more appealing to business users and organizations, Twitter is testing a new feature, “Contributors” that will allow multiple users to control and Tweet from one account.

Writes Twitter’s Anamitra Banerji on the company blog:

The feature we are beta-testing is called “Contributors”-it enables users to engage in more authentic conversations with businesses by allowing those organizations to manage multiple contributors to their account. The feature appends the contributor’s user name to the tweet byline, making the business-to-consumer communication more personal; e.g. if @Twitter invites @Biz to tweet on its behalf, then a tweet from @Twitter would include @Biz in the byline so that users know more about the real people behind organizations.

As of now, Twitter accounts run by multiple people have been mentioning the author of the Tweet by their initials, or not at all. After all, with 140 characters, real estate is limited.
