9/03–Present Freelance Critic, Washington Post Washington, DC
  I began as a freelance theater reviewer, covering an average of 4-10 plays a month. Moved into music criticism, now writing approximately 2-4 pieces monthly.
1/99–Present Freelance Critic/Entertainment Reporter, Washington City Paper Washington, DC
  I'm one of the two main film reviewers, writing 2-4 pieces every week as well as covering film festivals. I also occasionally write profiles and review music, books, and upcoming events.
6/07–Present Film and Television Critic, PopMatters
  I contribute film and television reviews on an irregular but ongoing basis.
6/00–5/01 Editor, Time-Life Music Alexandria, VA
  I wrote and edited liner notes for albums produced by Time-Life. The AOL merger made my stay a short one.
9/02–5/04 Editor, Knight-Ridder Tribune Washington, DC
  I wrote headlines for and edited incoming business-news stories from publications worldwide. I processed 16-20 stories an hour.
11/98–1/04 Proofreader/Copy Editor, Washington City Paper Washington, DC
  I was hired as a proofreader and moved up to a part-time copy-editing position after a couple of years. Familiar with AP style, working long hours. We edited on paper.

9/91– 12/95 Bachelor's Degree at Canisius College Buffalo, NY
I have a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Communications. I concentrated on writing classes, including creative and business.
