The Director of Marketing (Audience Engagement) is primarily responsible for developing strategies to grow our communities across multiple platforms (including web, social networks, email, and video platforms) and executing those strategies, as well as developing and managing relationships with our best readers and raising the profile of the publication. He or she reports to the Editor in Chief and works very closely with the editorial and distribution teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
Raises profile of the Daily Dot and its writers within the communities reported on
Increases size of loyal reader cohorts on a month-over-month basis
Develops practices for reliably promoting big and small key content packages as well as regularly engaging key community members
Raises general profile of the Daily Dot, online and off
Works with marketing to develop audience research/segmentation and a regular practice for improving it
Develops a top- performing audience engagement team
Stays current with the latest social media trends and developments
Increases the audience of newsletters and maximizes their potential
Required Skills and Experience
At least 3-5 years of relevant experience
Proven track record developing, maintaining and analyzing audience engagement initiatives across several key platforms/mediums
Knowledge of how to attract and retain readers across multiple demographics
Skill in leading employees and delegating work
Experience in several aspects of Audience Engagement, including:
Social programming, from strategy and scheduling to creating individual posts and broad, transmedia content packages
Online community management and measurement
Organic social media promotion and measurement
Audience segmentation and market research
Data analysis and experimentation
Alpha consumer engagement strategies
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience in communications, public relations and outreach
Experience in partnership development and content syndication
Skill in A/B testing
