Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS):
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field (desired)
• Experience in using and managing social media including blogs, wikis, social networks, forums, and/or podcasts
• Expert skills as a curator of content in consulting, writing, and editing, including an engaging written voice
• Strong sense of urgency, flexibility, and the ability to multitask
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate the practical application of the principles of online communications by nontechnical people
• Proficiency in basic online systems administration such as permissions, content publishing, and similar functions
• Functional understanding of web information architecture and design

Preferred skills include marketing experience; knowledge of HTML and XML; experience with web content management systems and blog software; knowledge of AP style; experience with large associations or other membership groups; work on large websites.

About Our Company
The National Association of REALTORS®, “The Voice for Real Estate” and America’s largest trade association, involved in all aspects of residential and commercial real estate industries, representing over 1 million REALTORS®, is seeking a Social Media Director, based in either our Chicago headquarters or Washington, DC office.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE):
The Social Media Director will play a critical role in shaping the association’s Social Media 2.0 communications strategy and will direct its execution and evolution. The Social Media Director manages how NAR and its individual departments communicate across social media platforms and analyze the association’s social media content and engagement levels. She/he will be responsible for creating NAR’s social media campaigns in collaboration with the Communications department. This position offers an opportunity to shape and build the next generation of online communication at NAR.

We require an individual accomplished as an advocate of online communities as critical tools for business applications. S/he must understand and be adept at bringing to reality a vision for social media and building engagement. Responsibility will evolve from the following roles:
• Create and execute social media content, campaigns, and initiatives aimed at building and promoting online communities of value to NAR and its members
• Monitor real estate industry and related blogs and other social media to capitalize on opportunities for better engagement on issues of interest to NAR and its membership
• Implement measures to track and engage in relevant online conversations and actions taking place on blogs and other social media sites
• Maintain, evolve, and enforce NAR’s blog and social media policies and guidelines
• Develop and build the capacity of NAR staff and leadership to engage effectively in social media dialogues
• Measure the effectiveness of NAR’s social media efforts
