Welcome to The Press List, our weekly newsletter alerting you to upcoming media events worth knowing about. This week starts off with a bang with Monday's Conversations on The Circle, a half-day economic summit packed with heavyweights from the worlds of business and journalism. Scheduled speakers include Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, CNN's Ali Velshi, Time managing editor Richard Stengel, economist Nouriel Roubini, and former New Jersey governor Christine Todd Whitman. Former Time Warner CEO Dick Parsons is also slated to speak: Conversations on the Circle is co-sponsored by CNN, Fortune, and Time, so we can assume this means there aren't too many hard feelings lingering after Parsons' departure to Citigroup earlier this year.

On Tuesday, more big names will be gathering for Samsung's annual Four Seasons of Hope gala, where Regis Philbin and Rudy Giuliani will be among those in attendance to raise money for community-based foundations and charities. Thursday night beckons more famous faces: The anticipated guest list counts actors Ethan Hawke, Parker Posey, and Marisa Tomei among those who'll be celebrating the third-annual summer wrap party for the Off Broadway theater company The New Group.

Last week, Thrillist threw five nights of parties at their downtown loft, where a line of eager partygoers snaked down the block. In what we're assuming was a far more reverent gathering, we hear some familiar folks attended the "New Media Shabbat" dinner at the 92nd Street Y on Friday, including Jesse Oxfeld of newly-launched Tablet Magazine and Sarah Lewitinn, who's better known as Ultragrrl.

We'll be back next Monday to forecast which upcoming media events you'll want to know about and regale you with what went down at the prior week's hottest happenings. Be sure to check out 'Conferences, Etc.' and 'Beyond New York' for media events beyond the five boroughs in Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C...
