in the best of all worlds, the media covering this mess..the PROFESSIONAL media..need to stand up as a body and say, loud and clear..

I watched several politicians just today, from both sides of the aisle, revert repeatedly to the talking points of the hour..repeating them no matter WHAT the actual question was..

it's time for us to interrupt them and NOT let them go through them again.. telling them straight out.."You've already said that.. now answer the question I asked you!"..and keep interrupting them until they either give a straight honest answer or get up and walk away..

and we need to keep on doing that until people start to realize that they're being played by both sides here.. and in no case being told the real truths..Ashley banfield actually tried to do that.. she got lots of hate tweets, but I admire her for doing it.. we should ALL be following her lead.. daily..

I will join with you orthicon in wishing the media would wake the hell up.

It's so warm and comfy on Obama's lap. When President Obama gives us a treat? Sooooo yummy.

Who would want to wake up?

I agree, orthicon. It's maddening to see reporters so overstretching the attempt to be fair that they're allowing these guys to fluff questions and dodge the truth.

I heard the results yesterday of a credible national poll asking voters who they'd blame for a government shutdown. Sixty-eight percent said the Republican Party. That's a shame, in a way, but it also lends credence to the idea that people aren't sheeple.

What the so-called "mainstream" media is doing

is faithfully parroting the talking points of Obama and the Democrats...as it has been doing ever since Obama burst onto the scene in 2006 or thereabouts.

At first it was the novelty of his race and other attributes (as summarized by Joe Biden..."the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy"...but then media figures became aware that he was speaking the language of social liberalism, which most of them (if they are honest) embrace. That became the basis of the attraction the media has to Obama.

Now it's become a knee-jerk defense of Obama against any and all criticism, whether politically motivated or otherwise. Ergo, the media dutifully echos Obama's incendiary rhetoric in which he blames Republicans for all of the division and rancor surrounding Obamacare.

In fact, it is Obama who is being intractible. He refused to negotiate with Republicans, who have offered three different conpromises; he unilaterally and illegally altered his own "Affordable" Care Act, which was duly enacted into law and affirmed by the Supreme Court.

He accuses Republicans of shutting down the government even though they offered specific language to keep ALL PARTS of the government up and running...which he flatly rejected. The reason, of course, was to try to leverage public opinion against the GOP.

He has rejected several different approaches to keeping the government open and operating, cynically indicating that he will veto any measure that doesn't give him everything he wants in exactly the form he wants them.

Obama is so delusional that he appears to believe he has the right and authority to unilaterally change the language of duly enacted law and bypass the congress to implement his socialist agenda unimpeded. He ignores the tripartite and co-equal nature of our government, choosing to act more like a monarch or dictator.

But then, he promised to "fundamentally change" the United States.

He has certainly done that. And the media is supporting and defending AND AIDING him all the way.

What the media has NOT done is impartially report the merits of the Republican argument on Obamacare. It has refused to honestly cover the inconsistencies and outright untruths told by Obama and his political lackeys...for example, the fact that few insurance compamies are participating in the exchanges, which are the backbone of the measure; that doctors are lleaving the medical profession in droves because they cannot, in good conscience, practice their chosen craft; that costs have skyrocketed for many, many people; that the facts of Obamacare are causing the curtailment of full time employment and, therefore, badly damaging an already tenuous economy.

It certainly is the media that needs to "wake the hell up" and take a non-partisan and rational look at what it's doing.

Free Flow of Information Act

This is why the alternative media has become so successful. The reporters/writers/journalists/bloggers ask questions. They report facts. They DIG for information.

It is ALSO why Diane Feinstein is trying to limit the rights of those who do NOT work for the MSM.

The fact that this has not even been mentioned on this BB does not surprise me one bit. It has been all over the alternative media. MSM? Not so much, and testament to that is that no one on this BB has even mentioned it.

"The fact that the US Senate is now defining what a journalist actually is sets a dangerous precedent threatening the present marketplace of ideas that in recent history has been greatly expanded by the internet.

According to the text of an amendment sponsored by Senators Diane Feinstein and Dick Durbin to the proposed “Free Flow of Information Act” (PDF) that passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 12, only salaried journalists will be given the free press protections guaranteed to all US citizens by the Constitution.

Under such a law presumably only the news reporters and analysts employed by moderate-to-substantial revenue-generating news entities are regarded as “legitimate” journalists. This is because the Feinstein-Durbin amendment’s wording is especially vague on exactly what type of news organization the writer needs to be affiliated with to be able to comment and report freely.

Cruiser is such an idiot...

Speaking of talking points...all the repubs have been saying is that Obama won't negotiate. Guess what...he doesn't have to! Obamacare is the law...he won. Where were your idiots when Obamacare was going through the process. There was NO negotiating from the right. Everything Obama wanted was completely shot down by the extreme right with no counter proposals. Repubs idea was to do nothing. Guess what? You lost and now Obama is in control. Obamacare is very popular (at least when people are polled about what is in the law instead of the name which has been poisoned by right wing propaganda) and it is here to stay. Once the law goes into effect, it will be impossible to take away from the people who will benefit from it. Loser!

proudliberal Posted - 10/2/2013 1:08:31 PM | show profile | flag this post

This is to Orth...

You are right...most "journalists" feel if they let both sides go at it they are doing their job. However, Chris Matthews is still one person who keeps hammering at his guests even when they won't answer his questions. But they know if they just keep repeating their non-answers that eventually even he will get frustrated or run out of time. The worst is that idiot Chuck Todd who somehow got a job at NBC and recently said it's not his job to point out the lies Repubs are telling about Obamacare. Say what? Then what is your job? It should be scrubbing the newsroom toilets, fool! Journalism has become a shouting match on the air that gets approval from management the closer it comes to being a brawl. It is disheartening to even watch anymore...

cruiser Posted - 10/2/2013 1:50:57 PM | show profile | flag this post

"Once the law goes into effect, it will be impossible

to take away from the people who will benefit from it"

First of all, the numbers of people who "benefit" from it will be extremelysmall. Most will be damaged by it for such diverse reasons as the number of insurers who will participate (small), the number of doctors who will participate (small), the number of facilities that will participate (small), the number of young people who will participate (VERY small), the costs, (large), and the number of treatments that will be rejected by the panel, especially for seniors (large).

But I digress.

You are absolutely right on ONE point: If Obamacare is ever fully implemented it will be very difficult to take it away. That is EXACTLY what Obama and the socialist Democrats are counting on...and why Obama is unwilling to compromise. He didn't permit Republicans to have any input into the original bill and he's now trying to prevent the GOP from adding rational...and much needed...improvements or to scrap it altogether and start over with a clean sheet of paper.

orthicon Posted - 10/2/2013 3:38:56 PM | show profile | flag this post

much what i expected from the rightwingnuts..

talking points..

more talking points..

still more talking points..

no original thought required..while their party goes right on tightening the noose around their own neck, flailing away trying to get SOME concession from a white house that's not going to give them any..

now even their own pundits are saying 2014 is in big trouble for them..

cruiser Posted - 10/2/2013 10:50:16 PM | show profile | flag this post

Keep thinking that

2014 is coming...and 2016 after that.

The American people are not stupid...they know that our system of governance operates on compromise and cooperation, not on threats, intimidation and selfishness...all of which Democrats have exhibited over the past few weeks.

Despite Democrat bullsh*t, Americans will remember which side was unwilling to negotiate, which side took a "my way or the highway" stance, which side unlawfully changed a statute that had been duly enacted, signed by a president and approved by the Supreme Court.

Americans will remember that Obama unilaterally...and unlawfully...waived parts of Obamacare for his large campaign donors, his union supporters and government personnel.

Americans will also remember that they did NOT get any waivers from the train wreck that is Obamacare...DESPITE the Republicans' best efforts to argue for fairness and equity. Obama...acting like a monarch or dictator...simply would not budge on his unreasonable demands that he get EVERYTHING he wanted while Republicans offered three or four different compromises.

Obama offered NOTHING except pain and suffering for the American people.

orthicon Posted - 10/2/2013 11:30:08 PM | show profile | flag this post

the sad thing about this is that you really believe that..

getg used to it.. there will be no compromise from the president..

because he has no NEED to compromise..he WON..

can you get that through your thick skull at last?..he has no need to, and no interest in, giving your lackluster leadership even one single victory..there is nothing to negotiate..

do you get it now?..HE HOLDS ALL THE CARDS!!..

your guys misplayed this from the start..and their desperate scrambling to save some sort of face out of all this is pissing off the American public.. and the vast majority of them are pissed off at the tea party in particular and republicans in general..

you airheads may have already LOST 2014..you might as well accept it..and if you try to play the same game with the debt limit, I can guarantee you the house will be democratic after 2014..

how stupid can you be?..you're letting the farrightwingnuts drag your party over the cliff, and into the abyss..

a clinical idiot can see this..but I guess you just aren't THAT smart..

cruiser Posted - 10/3/2013 12:37:18 AM | show profile | flag this post

"because he has no NEED to compromise..he WON"

EVERY president who's ever held the office...won. But EVERY SINGLE ONE...except Obama...has understood that he is NOT a king or a dictator. Most have willingly compromised for the good of the country and the people.

But then...we've never before had a president who's a selfish, arrogant narcissist who doesn't realize...and cares even less...that he has NO statutory authority to do half the stuff he does.

orthicon Posted - 10/3/2013 1:29:48 AM | show profile | flag this post

talking points.. talking points..

all you're capable of..

get your nose out of the Koch brothers' nether regions and simply listen to what's being said every day.. by BOTH sides..

your tea party weeps and moans because the president won't play their game..

while their party dissolves around them..now republican congressmembers.. the SANE ones..are going on television saying this is all bullshit.. they know they've lost this battle..

and they're right..

Oh here we go

I brought up Obama's arrogance, narcissism and lunacy. Now all of a sudden ortho wants to change the subject.

it's just tv folks Posted - 10/3/2013 8:46:16 AM | show profile | flag this post

First off cruztwit (and orthicon) the Democrats compromised big time by agreeing to the repub budget number, the sequestor number. They didn't make it a political stunt out of it, they were doing their jobs of governing and compromising.

Holding the CR hostage is not the appropriate way of governing. Throwing people out of work is a great way to harm the ecomony, not to mention families. I guess THAT's what Boner, er, Boehner meant by "JOBS, JOBS, JOBS", "throw people outta jobs!!!!"

Throwning the economy, likely the world economy, into a tailspin because you don't like the guy in the White House is STUPID!!!!! That's what will happen if the teabagger terrorists keep insisting on doing political stunts instead of governing and protecting the United States of America from default.

Republicans, allow a vote on a CLEAN CR!!!!!!

cruiser Posted - 10/3/2013 10:56:25 AM | show profile | flag this post

"time for the media to wake the hell up"

and be honest with the American public.

Democrats are cynically and deliberately trying to cause pain and suffering by publicly and visibly shutting down iconic and unrestricted government facilities like the WWII memorial, which is NOT enclosed and requires NO paid support staff beyond normal park maintenance. The TV images of dozens of 90-year-old veterans in wheelchairs facing absolutely unnecessary steel barricades and armed guards is NOT an image of which Democrats should be proud.

The veterans and their families and friends will remember that it was Republican lawmakers who pushed aside the barricades, cut down the yellow tape and facilitated their access. Some of the vets planned for months and paid a lot of money to visit the memorial and they won't ever forget how Democrats tried to block their entry.

And Americans who have seen these images on TV and in the newspapers won't forget either. This is going to come back to bite Democrats...BIG time.

it's just tv folks Posted - 10/3/2013 11:38:02 AM | show profile | flag this post

The teabagger terrorists, aka republican party, could have kept the government open by allowing a CLEAN CR on the House floor for a vote. The republicans refused. The teabaggers hate the President of the United States of America MORE than they give a crap about the PEOPLE of the United States.

The republicans closed down the monuments and practically everything else. Batsh*tcrazy Bachmann had the gall to say how horrible it was that they were being used for a political stunt ... the teabagger terrorists like Bachamann were creating the stunt!

cruiser Posted - 10/3/2013 11:44:35 AM | show profile | flag this post

As long as you...and the rest of the idiots in your party

maintain that attitude the government will remain dysfunctional. This is a representative democracy...and the Republicans are doing what they were elected to do...representing their constituents.

Obama plainly doesn't respect that...just as he doesn't respect the tripartite and co-equal nature of our government. He thinks he can be a king or a dictator. He's plainly living in the wrong era...and in the wrong part of the world. He'd fit right in to Medieval Europe.

You can whine and wave your arms and stamp your feet all you want but everyone can see that the impasse is the fault of Democrats.

it's just tv folks Posted - 10/3/2013 1:08:05 PM | show profile | flag this post

The Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, was passed by a majority of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. That would be the Legislative Branch. The ACA was signed into law by the President. That would be the Executive Branch. The United States Supreme Court with a Conservative majority declared Obamacare Constitutional. That would be the Judicial Branch. The 3 Constitutional branches of the Federal government.

Geez 2oldcruztwit, maybe you should reconsider going to get your GED. You have to pass a course in government to get your diploma. I think that knowledge would help you sound less stupid

This is an excellent dramatization of typical republican, the one guy does an excellent Reince Priebus:

cruster Posted - 10/3/2013 1:21:14 PM | show profile | flag this post

"the impasse is the fault of Democrats."

And it's important to keep saying that until it's true.

Just like 1995. Totally the dems. Right?

Just keep saying it.

Romney landslide... Romney landslide... Romney landslide...

cruiser Posted - 10/4/2013 1:23:23 PM | show profile | flag this post

Barrycades? You betcha.

The attempt to keep 90-year-old wheelchair-bound WWII veterans from a monument in their honor with steel barricades was bad enough. But the Obama administration has now doubled down on that horrendously bad policy. At last report the barricades were back...this time fastened together with steel wire.

When asked about the ramped-up attempts to keep the public from an open-air venue a National Park Service figure said, "We are part of Interior, Interior gives us our instructions." Of course the reference is to the Department of the Interior, headed by Sally Jewell, an Obama appointee.

Gale Norton, former Secretary of the Interior under George W Bush, said the National Park Service has a long history of dramatizing budget issues by inconveniencing the public.

Barrycades Part Deux

Ole Barry has gone clear over the edge. Now he's attempting to shut down the ocean. Why?

"Apparently, according to an anonymous Park Service ranger, 'We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.'"

Anyone who has ANY respect left for this a**hole is pathetically, partisanly brainless.

orthicon Posted - 10/5/2013 4:07:51 PM | show profile | flag this post

so long as you use breitbart as your source..

your comments will be looked at as what they are..

partisan, farrightwingnut idiocy..

which of course is nothing new at all for you..

cruiser Posted - 10/5/2013 5:09:43 PM | show profile | flag this post

What part of

the park ranger's comment did you not understand?

Or is your partisanship so strong that you willingly suspend your acceptance of the facts and stick to your party's talking points?

Here's a hot top: Facts are facts regardless of the source. But if you morons couldn't try to denigrate sources you wouldn't have ANYthing to say.
