Job Requirements Content Producers at PIX11 are among the rockstars of the newsroom, sourcing stories from the first phone call to the last digital upload. You see a story through from verifying information, communicating with producers and reporters in the field, coordinating coverage and creating content for all platforms. Every minute is your next deadline, freshening content as new information becomes available, working alongside the people who need your help and independently on your own projects.

You are accountable for your work from start to finish, creating content for delivery to all media: mobile, web and broadcast. You report to the Content Supervisor and work with the Ops Manager, Photographers, Web Editors and Video Editors, you see to it that incoming media gets labeled and named correctly, search for relevant video, order graphics and do the research that makes PIX11 stories come alive on air and online. You feel the win when your efforts enhance the work of so many others.

Specifically, you use all your relevant and requisite skills to create and produce stories and other content from approved sources. You work as assigned to assemble media for PIX11 newscasts and digital properties. You practice journalism with a dedication to accuracy, fairness, copyright laws, ethics, taste and good judgment. You are especially in touch with what’s hot, viral, sticky: you know what will play through the next news cycle. You are organized, thrive under deadline pressure, and crave breaking news. News is non-stop and you appreciate that working in it requires flexibility to nights, weekends and overnights.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Produce news stories for PIX11 News, PIX11.com, PIX11 Mobile and other news products and platforms.

• Collate all relevant elements for stories including research data, file video, graphic elements, font information, whether for your own stories or in collaboration with an anchor or reporter.

• Label all incoming media correctly for logging, archival and metadata purposes.

• Ensure all copy is correct for factual accuracy, fairness, copyright laws, ethics, taste and good judgment.

• Excellent spelling, grammar, and style.

• Meet all deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS:

• College Degree

• 3-5 years of experience in a major market newsroom

• Familiarity or ability quickly learn newsroom system of OPUS, TONs, Final Cut Pro.

• Flexibility to work any news shift including nights, weekends and overnights.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Acute attention to detail and team oriented.
