Job Requirements Your day-to-day (as a Creative Director, Video, you’ll):

Seamlessly manage creative direction and production of Upworthy original videos, client videos, and content collaborations/acquisitions

Build and scale the in-house team and manage contractors

Help the sales team conceptualize content and occasionally pitch to prospective advertisers and partners

Handle a dozen projects and timeframes with absolute confidence and easily deliver polished results on time and on budget


What does it take to do this job?

5 years of video production experience, with a minimum of 2 years of digital video experience.

2+ years of management experience.

Strong knowledge of online distribution and production for web medium

Proven project management skills – you can keep a dozen plates spinning and make it look easy

Jack of all trades background: you’re just as comfortable writing and producing something yourself as you are assigning it to a team.

Uses great creative / editorial judgment. Good brainstormer, but also good editor.

Understands the Upworthy audience and can produce concepts that speak to them.

Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

Experimental, boundary pushing and curious character traits are a must.

Upworthy is looking for a multi-talented, quick, and curious Creative Director with a strong background in film or video production and a passion for our mission: to bring massive amounts of attention to things that matter.
As Creative Director, your job will be to develop a vision for Upworthy original video content and facilitate the production process including concept development, writing and production. You will also work closely with the sales team to develop and execute branded content for our clients.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, deep experience in the digital video space, a jack-of-all-trades technical skill set, and experience working with advertisers.
