5 Questions For… Cody Willard

Willard.jpgCody Willard is the co-anchor of FOX Business Network’s Happy Hour. He is also principal of investment management firm CL Willard Capital, a contributor to The Financial Times and TheStreet.com, and an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University. Willard began his career at Oppenheimer & Co., and is a New Mexico native.

1. TVNewser: Behind the scenes at FBN, it’s been
Willard: Well, nuts! I’m a cowboy and stock guy…I’m fairly new to the TV business…it’s a good thing there’s so much experience, knowledge and guidance from the rest of the FBN people!

2. TVNewser: Having been a frequent guest on CNBC (2004-2006), the biggest differences between the two networks:
Willard: I have to say that both places treated me well…except for that time I had a 6am spot in the pouring rain on CNBC and they forgot to send me a car…I got a lot of emails asking about why I came to a TV spot straight out of the shower.


3. TVNewser: Teaching at Seton Hall is:
Willard: Incredibly educational. I’ve learned more teaching two semesters of Revolutionomics than I ever learned as a student. So many smart kids so tapped in.

4. TVNewser: FBN will reach viewers who previously have not been interested in business news by…
Willard: Keeping it real! Enough with the “What do you think the Fed will do today? Well, I don’t know, what do you think the Fed will do today?” It’s like a bad Seinfeld episode…I don’t think there’s very many people out there who aren’t actually interested in business news…the economy and business matters to everybody.

5. TVNewser: As a New Mexico native, life in New York is:
Willard: Hard. It’s twelve hours to trek to my hometown (it’s 180 miles to the ABQ airport from Ruidoso) and I miss the food, the outdoors, the horses, my family, my friends….don’t get me wrong, I love NYC…but I long for the cool mountains of Ruidoso.
