Kofman has been in the gulf region ever since the explosion at the oil rig in late April.
“I was on the first flight I could get on to New Orleans [after the explosion],” Kofman told TVNewser. “I have essentially been here, with two small breaks, ever since.”
Kofman says the oil spill story is one of the most important he has ever worked on, with the long-term impact potentially catastrophic.
“The reality is that you can’t report on this story unless you get out and see it,” Kofman says. “As a reporter it has been incredibly challenging but it is also what we do.”
