Comments From Williams, Capus, Schieffer

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams (via MSNBC.com):

"Journalism in a war zone carries great risks, and covering the war in Iraq, and the dangers faced by U.S. and Iraqi forces brings with it its own unique hazards. There is no way to cover the story in Iraq without exposure to danger. These jobs are often toughest on our families. My family has been in touch with Bob's family, and we will be think about Bob's wife and children and Doug's wife and children, as we pray for their recovery."

NBC News President Steve Capus (via MSNBC.com):

"Our thoughts are with the Woodruff and Vogt families and with our colleagues at ABC News. We anxiously await what we hope will be positive news about Bob and Doug. Journalists working in Iraq face tremendous danger, every single day. And yet, many fine journalists are on the ground as we speak, dedicated to shedding light on the important stories from that region. We're also reminded of the tremendous sacrifices made by the men and women of the U.S. armed forces. Today they are all in our thoughts and prayers."

CBS Evening News anchor Bob Schieffer (via AP):

"Wars are not fought on the training ground, nor can they be covered from a TV studio. They are not reality shows, they are reality. Young men and women have to fight them, and correspondents have to cover them if we are to understand what they are about."
