Gibson Says Goodbye To GMA On Wed.

While Wednesday's farewell block party for Charles Gibson "brings back old favorites David Hartman and Joan Lunden for visits, expect nothing like NBC's three-hour Katie Couric extravaganza," the AP's David Bauder writes.

"It's not Gibson's nature. He's a suit-and-tie guy, a reserved newsman. He can be warm -- goofy even -- and melts at talk of family, but it always looked like daddy was home when he filled the screen."

The press release for Gibson's GMA goodbye is after the jump...

Press release: ABC's "GOOD MORNING AMERICA" TO CELEBRATE CHARLES GIBSON'S 19 YEARS ON "GMA" AND HIS LAST DAY AS CO-ANCHOR OF THE PROGRAM WITH A TIMES SQUARE BLOCK PARTY LIVE ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28

MORNING BROADCAST TO FEATURE SPECIAL SURPRISES FOR GIBSON, INCLUDING SPECIAL GUESTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE ENTIRE "GMA" FAMILY

On Wednesday, June 28, ABC's "Good Morning America" will celebrate Charles Gibson's new assignment as anchor of "World News Tonight" and his last day as co-anchor of "GMA" with a block party outside of the morning program's Times Square Studios.

All week, "GMA" has been counting down to Charlie's last day on the morning program with a look back at his career during the popular "Watercooler" segment. On the morning of June 28, "GMA" will shut down Times Square with a live audience as well as various other special surprises and guests. In addition, "GMA" co-anchors Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts will contribute special pieces on Gibson's tenure. Former hosts Joan Lunden and David Hartman, along with members of the extended "GMA" family, including former weathermen Spencer Christian and Tony Perkins, will also join the morning event (Spencer will join via remote from his KGO-TV station in San Francisco.)

Tune in Wednesday, June 28 for Charles Gibson and the extended "Good Morning America" family as they wish him farewell and good luck as he takes the helm of "World News Tonight."

ABC News' "Good Morning America" is anchored by Diane Sawyer, Charles Gibson and Robin Roberts. The morning news program airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00am - 9:00am/EDT on the ABC Television Network. Ben Sherwood is the executive producer of ABC News' "Good Morning America."
