Ailes: The Money Is In The Mornings

The Detroit News: “Television observers have wondered if Fox would ever get in on the evening news race against Katie Couric, Charles Gibson and Brian Williams. Never, says Roger Ailes, chairman and CEO of Fox News. The money, he says, is in the mornings.”

(Did Ailes completely rule out an evening newscast? Glenn Garvin says he spoke “longingly” of one, but noted that “the Fox stations do better with other types of programming at that time.”)

“The morning show landscape at 9 a.m. may be a little more open,” Ailes said. “A lot of money can be made in morning television. And in the end, these are capitalistic ventures, and they make money because then they get to pay people and journalists get to work and we’re all happy.”
