As Temperatures Drop, Morning Shows Hit Multi-Year Highs

MorningShowNEWThe network morning shows saw multi-year viewership highs last week as winter keeps a cold and snowy grip on much of the nation.

“CBS This Morning” had its best viewership in more than five years, since the week of Dec. 15, 2008. The broadcast showed the most viewership growth of the morning shows last week, up +20% compared to the same week last year. “CTM” was also up +11% in the demo.

NBC’s “Today,” which begins three weeks of broadcasts from Sochi, had its biggest total viewer audience since the the second week of the London Olympics in August, 2012. “Today” was up +12% in viewers and up +8% in the demo, year-over-year.

No. 1 “Good Morning America” had its most-watched week since November, 25 2013. Before that, you’d have to go back 22 years — since at least September 1991 — to find a week with more viewers. “GMA” was up the most in the demo +17% year-over-year and was up +12% in viewers.

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 6.154M / NBC: 5.512M / CBS: 3.416M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 2.450M / NBC: 2.259M / CBS: 1.205M
