“Baby Mama” Drama

aehq_6-12.JPGSalon.com’s War Room blog picked up on a lower third used during FNC’s America’s Election HQ yesterday. During a segment about Michelle Obama, the chyron read, “Outraged Liberals: Stop Picking on Obama’s Baby Mama!”

TVNewser hears higher ups were furious, while tipsters say the producer was attempting to be “cute” by referencing the movie of the same title.

But SVP of Programming Bill Shine isn’t having it. Shine tells TVNewser, “A producer on the program exercised poor judgment in using this chyron during the segment.”

Any TVNewser readers know who’s responsible for the chyron in question?

Related: Michelle Malkin, who was part of the segment, writes about it on her blog. She gives one possible explanation, citing Barack Obama‘s Senate victory speech in 2004 when Michelle Obama introduced him as, “my baby’s daddy.”
