Baier Reflects on Son’s Recovery

“Special Report” anchor Bret Baier is profiled, along with his son, Paul, in the upcoming issue of People Magazine.

Baier’s son is now 19-months-old, and continues his remarkable recovery from a “hole in his heart, unusual coronary arteries, a pinched aorta and his main arteries switched around,” which needed a major open-heart surgery just 12 days after he was born.

“Being back at work was extremely hard,” says Baier. “I had to focus on the story of the day but kept drifting back to the image of Paul hooked up to all the machines.”
