Bianna Golodryga Named ‘GMA’ Weekend Co-Anchor
Breaking: ABC News has named Bianna Golodryga as the new co-anchor of the weekend edition of “Good Morning America.” Golodryga joins Bill Weir as well as Ron Claiborne (news anchor) and Marysol Castro (weather anchor). ABC News President David Westin sent an email to staff informing them of the news.
Her first day is tomorrow. She will continue to cover business and finance as a correspondent for the network.
There had been speculation with the departure of Kate Snow — who starts at “Dateline NBC” next week — that Golodryga, an internal candidate, would be the likely choice for the job. She had been a regular part of the fill-in rotation since Snow’s departure.
Golodryga had also reportedly been in consideration for the weekday newsreader position that eventually went to Juju Chang after Chris Cuomo moved to “20/20.”
She had recently made non-industry headlines for her engagement to Peter Orszag, director of the OMB.
She joined ABC News in 2007 after working at CNBC from 2001.
