Can’t an Anchorman Get a Break?

Brian Williams was supposed to be on vacation this week, but Monday’s news out of Libya and Tuesday’s earthquake in Virginia rocked him right back to…30 Rock. On Tuesday’s “Nightly News” he said:

I was on my second attempt at a summer vacation at my native Jersey Shore and the kitchen moved and since we didn’t see any cast members from the “Jersey Shore” we surmised it was a quake.

So, Williams went back on vacation yesterday only to see — on the New York local news today — that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is asking anyone along the Jersey Shore to voluntarily evacuate ahead of Hurricane Irene.

TVNewser has learned Williams — a weather nerd anyway — will be back on the air tonight for Irene coverage. That’s Williams (above) covering Hurricane Isabel as it stormed ashore on the North Carolina coast in Oct. 2003.
