Brian Williams to Be Leno “Correspondent?”

bwilliams_leno_8_4.jpgThe NYPost’s Page Six “hears” that:

Jay Leno will announce the “correspondents” for his new, prime-time NBC show today during the summer Television Critics Assn. press tour. Among them: anchorman Brian Williams

In the past, we’ve been fans of the comedic stylings of Brian Williams, but NBC tells TVNewser that Page Six misheard, so to speak, and the rumors are not true. Too bad. Between this and Bill Clinton back in the news, things were looking pretty promising for Leno.

> Update: While he won’t be a correspondent, we do hear that he will have occasional appearances.
