Brit Hume: Biggest “Romantic” on TV?

hume_2-19.jpgJoanna Weiss profiles FNC anchor Brit Hume in today’s Boston Globe, writing about his impact on the 2008 presidential race coverage.

She labels Hume a “romantic” for the way he focuses on positive moments in his coverage. “In a campaign season filled with deep cynicism and knee-jerk hyperbole, Hume somehow finds ways to hone in on the happy moments,” she writes.

In comparing Hume’s style to that of ABC’s Charlie Gibson and NBC’s Tim Russert during this year’s campaign coverage, she notes the human element in the way he anchors. “It’s nice to have a human being to hone in on, as the cable channels carry out their arms race of high-tech toys and dizzying graphics,” writes Weiss.
