Bucky Gunts: Ricky Gervais Was 'Hilarious' at Emmys
As we wrote yesterday, NBC’s Bucky Gunts won at the Emmys Sunday for his direction of the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. We also noted that comedian Ricky Gervais had a bit of fun at Gunts’ expense.
Despite the jokes, Gunts has no hard feelings, in fact, he took them in stride, telling the Stamford Advocate:
“He’s hilarious,” Gunts said by telephone from Los Angeles. “I just think the whole thing is so funny.”
Gunts said he spoke with Gervais briefly after the ceremony.
“I just thanked him for being nice, and I let him know that I thought it was funny, and he certainly knew that anyway,” he said.
For any viewers that were curious as to how Gunts got his first name, the Advocate has you covered there as well.
“My father was Brent Senior, and what they explained to me — because I asked them many times, obviously — they said they just didn’t want me to be called Junior,” Gunts said. “I guess they hadn’t thought out the whole thing as well as they could have.”
