Cablevision Adding Glenn Beck’s TheBlaze To Channel Lineup

TheBlaze, the TV channel founded by former HLN and Fox News host Glenn Beck, has signed up its second major pay-TV provider. Cablevision, which has over three million subscribers in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tri-state area will be adding the channel to its lineup in late May. It will be available on the preferred, silver and gold packages.

While TheBlaze has TV carriage agreements with some 11 other pay-TV operators, the Cablevision deal is the second big deal for the growing company, which began a major push to secure TV distribution earlier this year. DISH Network was the first major MSO to carry the channel last year.

The other 10 operators are smaller, independent cable companies, spread throughout the country. While TheBlaze seeks TV deals, it remains available to subscribers directly over the internet for a monthly fee.

BETHPAGE, N.Y., May 2, 2013 – Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC) today announced that TheBlaze, Glenn Beck’s news, opinion and entertainment network, will be added to Optimum TV’s comprehensive line-up in late May. Optimum TV is the only cable provider in the Tri-State area to bring customers TheBlaze.

The exclusive provider of “The Glenn Beck Program,” TheBlaze offers a full slate of original news and opinion shows like “Real News,” “Wilkow!” and “For the Record,” late night comedy like “The Wonderful World of Stu” and “B.S. of A.,” family-friendly programming like “Liberty Treehouse” as well as thought-provoking documentaries and original specials. TheBlaze first launched on September 12, 2011 as GBTV and quickly grew into one of the world’s largest online streaming networks with over 300,000 subscribers. One year later, TheBlaze became a television network.

TheBlaze will be available to Optimum’s residential customers with the Optimum Preferred, Silver and Gold Packages. The channel is available to Optimum TV commercial customers with Optimum Business or Optimum Entertainment.  All customers must have a cable box or CableCARD to receive the TheBlaze.
