Calling the Race for Obama

It was a race to get the news of Sen. Barack Obama‘s projected victory in the Democratic South Carolina primary.

As it turns out, all three cable networks projected the victory at almost exactly the same time, just as the 7:00pmET poll closing hit.

Also, all three broadcast networks broke in with a brief news update about the Obama victory just after the end of all the evening newscasts.

So what will the cable networks use to keep the eyeballs on the screen? All three are showing the race for second place is still up for grabs between Sen. Hillary Clinton and John Edwards.
