With the NFL lockout winding down, HBO is still optimistic they will find a team to profile for Hard Knocks.

“We are monitoring developments and remain hopeful of presenting a new season of ‘Hard Knocks,’” HBO spokesman Ray Stallone told Sporting News. “Beyond that we are not going to speculate.”

More than a half-dozen teams (Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Detroit, NY Jets, Chicago, Denver, Minnesota) have reportedly turned down HBO’s offer for a variety of reasons.

MetLife is in “advanced discussions” to acquire the naming rights to the New Meadowlands Stadium, according to Sports Business Journal.

While the article reported the deal would average $17-18 million per year, a spokeswoman for the New Meadlowlands denied the report.

“There is no naming rights deal,” said Alice McGillion, spokeswoman for New Meadowlands Stadium. “We’re not going to comment on rumors and speculation.”

MetLife was one of four sponsors when the New Meadowlands opened last year. They are currently paying $7 million yearly for in-stadium branding.

Former soccer star Mia Hamm will serve as a special contributor for espnW during the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

During the three-week tournament, Hamm will write blog postings for espnw.com along with taking part in select appearances on ESPN telecasts.

Hamm is the latest addition from the 1999 US Women’s National Team to join ESPN for coverage of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Teammates Julie Foudy, Brandi Chastain and Brianna Scurry as well as former head coach Tony DiCicco will also have a presence on the network.
