CBS Sports Names 140 Must-Follow Athletes on Twitter

CBS Sports has compiled an interesting list of the 140 must-follow athletes on Twitter, tweaking the definition of “athlete” to include most people in the sports world, including coaches, owners and Kate Upton, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. Is Upton an athlete? Uh, do you really want to quibble? Just follow her and be quiet.

To make this list of must-follow athletes, the tweeter needed to be interactive, informative, charitable, funny and (for the most part) not oblige his or her followers’ requests for retweets because the athlete is the “fan’s favorite player.” Athletes, coaches, and owners were eligible to make the list.

Al Davis of the Raiders did not make the cut. Jameson Fleming, who compiled the list, does a commendable job of selecting representative tweets from many of the athletes and explaining the reasons why they’re worth a follow. Sports media personalities like Bill Simmons and Jason Whitlock were not included, which is fine because Upton was included.
