Change of Heart — Schieffer to Stay On Longer
Bob Schieffer said he would be leaving Face the Nation after the 2009 presidential inauguration in an interview with David Bauder of the AP in January. It appears Schieffer may not be ready to give up the anchor chair.
U.S. News & World Report’s Paul Bedard writes that Schieffer said, “My bosses have asked me to stay around for a while. I’m just going to reduce my schedule a little bit, but I guess I’m going to stay around a little while longer than I anticipated.”
In January, Bauder quoted CBS News President Sean McManus, who said, “Bob can work at CBS News as long as he wants to and I hope that’s a long time.”
