CNN Drops Reuters

A tipster tells us, and Bloomberg has been able to confirm, that CNN is dropping Reuters from its newsgathering roster. In an email obtained by Bloomberg, Tony Maddox, CNN International’s managing director wrote, “We are making significant investments in our own newsgathering while simultaneously reducing our reliance on agency material.”

Bloomberg’s Mark Lee reports CNN International will continue to use material from the Associated Press and the AP’s TV arm, Associated Press Television News.

The cancellation, which ends a 27-year relationship, is effective tomorrow.
