Radio Station Labels HLN Memorial Day Coverage Anti-War; Net Calls Accusation "Preposterous"![]() Above, Robin Meade at Fort Bragg WYSL, a small radio station in Rochester, claims that the Memorial Day special edition of Robin & Co. was "purported to be a 'tribute' to US Armed Forces," but was actually a "thinly-disguised anti-Iraq war agitprop." The radio station simulcasts HLN in the morning, but says it will stop. FTVLive published the station's statement, which read in part: "The coverage was seriously unbalanced, with no mention of the countless positive accomplishments of US efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The entire focus was on loss of family members and others demanding that US troops return home." A Headline News spokesperson responded on Wednesday, saying: "We are outraged at WYSL Radio's politicizing of Headline News' Memorial Day coverage. Our goal was to bring our viewers the stories of the heroic men and women who are serving our country in various conflicts, and to honor the sacrifices that they -- and the families they’ve left behind -- are making on our country’s behalf. We are proud to be the only cable news network that features a daily salute to members of our military, their tremendous accomplishments, and their consistent acts of bravery. To suggest that our Memorial Day coverage was meant as anything other than a tribute to these soldiers and their families is preposterous, baseless, and offensive." Email This Post |
