The 8pm slot is “the most competitive in cable news, with Fox’s Bill O’Reilly and MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann both outrating CNN during the hour,” Michael Learmonth writes. “…Sources familiar with CNN’s thinking say the net believes the firebrand populist could better compete against O’Reilly, who averaged 2 million viewers a night in May.”
