CNN’s NYC “News Wall” Debuts

CNN premiered a new set in New York tonight. The studio is NYC’s version of The Situation Room, with a News Wall, a “big-screen showcase for the latest video and informational graphics pouring into CNN from around the nation, the world and the Web.”

Viewers saw the studio for the first time on Paula Zahn Now. Starting tonight, it will also be used by 360. American Morning will air from it starting next Monday.

The press release is funny. It says the set includes “computer workstations to enable anchors and reporters to track breaking stories directly from the set as they develop.” Are they really suggesting that computers at the anchor desk is an innovation?
