That's what today's New York Times says. Sean McManus apparently contacted Rick Kaplan last week. "According to both men, Ms. Couric was not brought into the conversations until Wednesday, after Mr. Kaplan had accepted the job. Ms. Couric would not comment on Mr. Kaplan's arrival. Colleagues of both described their previous relationship as strong and friendly, though they have not worked together."
