Breaking in Beirut, 30 Years Ago Today

We spotted this on @CBSEveningNews a little earlier. The late Charles Kuralt, who hosted “Sunday Morning” at the time, anchored this CBS News Special Report 30 years ago today, Sunday, Oct. 23, 1983.

Larry Pintak, the reporter on the scene would go on to be the founding dean of The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University. White House reporter Deborah Potter would go on to report for CNN and PBS and, later, founded the journalism training center Newslab. She’s also been a co-author of the PEJ’s annual State of the News Media report.
