Dan Shulman Leads New Sunday Night Baseball Announcing Team

After nearly a month of speculation, ESPN announced Dan Shulman, Orel Hershiser and Bobby Valentine will form their new Sunday Night Baseball announcing team.

The trio of broadcasters were the favorites to replace Jon Miller and Joe Morgan following their departure from the network last month.

“Dan has broad knowledge of the game, an ability to articulate baseball’s analytics and a conversational tone which will bring out the best in our analysts,” said Norby Williamson, ESPN executive vice president, production. “Pairing him with Orel Hershiser, who made great contributions in the Sunday Night Baseball booth last season, and the unique opinions and fresh perspective of Bobby Valentine, will make for a dynamic Sunday Night team.”

Shulman has served as a play-by-play announcer for baseball games on ESPN since 2002 and is the perfect replacement for Miller. Hershiser was the third man in the booth with Miller and Morgan last season. Valentine reportedly turned down managerial offers to remain as a broadcaster with ESPN.

With Miller declining ESPN’s offer to become the radio voice for Sunday Night Baseball, play-by-play announcer Jon Sciambi will team up with analyst Chris Singleton in the booth.
