If you were watching FNC’s breaking news coverage of the Cleveland shooting in the 3pmET hour, you may have noticed an anchor change halfway through the show.

At about 3:35pmET Shepard Smith tossed to a correspondent who was covering the shooting, and as the report wrapped up, Jane Skinner jumped in, saying “Steve, it’s Jane Skinner here, taking over for Shepard, who um, had to step away just for a second to get some more information.”

An FNC insider tells TVNewser Smith wasn’t feeling well before the show and got sick halfway through it. The insider says Skinner was on standby just in case, which made the emergency handoff relatively smooth.
