“There was never any psychological consultant hired. That’s utter fiction, that’s gossip reporting gone wild,” he said, adding, “It’s just complete fiction and has been kind of a runaway train.”
On Thursday, Gregory’s boss, NBC News president Deborah Turness sent a memo of support to Gregory’s “Meet the Press” team. Turness said while the show is undergiong changes, Gregory remains “at the helm … and will lead you and the program on the journey ahead.”
“I love doing this program, this is a wonderful program and we have such wonderful support of viewers particularly here in Washington, D.C. and we are just going to continue that and stay on plan,” Gregory said.
