Dobbs On 60 Minutes: Awkward

Sunday’s 60 Minutes profile of Lou Dobbs was awfully awkward.

First of all, he’s a regular contributor to the network. Lesley Stahl acknowledged this at the end of her segment: “While we were talking to Dobbs, unbeknownst to us, he was talking to CBS News and has now joined ‘The Early Show’ as a weekly commentator.”

“Seeing as Stahl had just spent part of the segment questioning Dobbs’ journalistic credentials, it was a startling admission,” the CBS Public Eye rightfully says.

Now that CBS has questioned Dobbs’ credentials, CNN is defending him — calling CBS’s fairness into question. Now two news organizations who both employ Dobbs — and who increasingly share talent — are at odds!
