“Does Dan really think he can win this suit? Or is he just hoping for a big cash settlement on grounds CBS doesn’t need more bad press? Was he canned to “pacify the White House?” Hate to believe that. Not the way I feel about CBS and its traditions even now, 20 years after I left.

But wouldn’t it be fun (if you’re a news junkie or a Democrat) if Dan actually dug up some facts the whole network couldn’t find three years ago. I don’t know where the truth lies but I know what isn’t fun: seeing old colleagues snarling and hiring lawyers.”
