ESPN Aired Wrong Doris Burke Tape During Game 3

Doris Burke‘s flub Saturday night during Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals wasn’t her fault.

Instead of going with a live shot, ESPN decided to tape Burke’s segment … and aired the wrong one, according to USA Today:

“At the last minute they decided to tape it. And like it happens in TV when you’re taping, I kept stopping.” Eventually, Burke finished her sideline report on Oklahoma City having loud fans. But, she says, the wrong one aired: “It was a simple as someone hitting the wrong button.” (Said ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys on Sunday: “We just played the wrong tape.”)

And Burke, aware of the online ridicule, isn’t exactly irate. “What I feel badly about is the gentleman in the production truck (who made the mistake) was upset. And I heard somebody back in Bristol was upset. I’m not happy it made it on-air, because we’re better than that. … But I said to the gentleman in the truck, don’t lose any sleep over it. I don’t want anybody upset. We’re all human.” Sometimes, real life is much more mundane than cyberspace.
