ESPN The Magazine Hires Keith Reed As Senior Editor

ESPN The Magazine has hired Keith Reed as a senior editor.

Reed heads to Bristol from Catalyst Ohio, a quarterly nonprofit magazine that focused on urban public education in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati.

During Reed’s two years as an editor at Catalyst Ohio, the magazine won numerous awards including honors from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Association of Women in Communications. Prior to his time in Ohio, Reed worked as a business reporter for the Baltimore Business Journal, Boston Globe and Cincinnati Enquirer.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining ESPN, especially in a role like this,” Reed told SportsNewser. “It’ll truly be the best of all worlds for me: being able to work with some of the best writers in the business, helping good but yet-unheard of writers get a shot and conceptualizing content at a high level for one of the biggest brands in media — it’s really a dream for me. Most of my reporting background was in business but I’m a lover of sports, so I’m hoping that means I’ll add something really unique to the mix.”

Reed will assign and edit short and long form articles along with working on the digital platforms for the magazine.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Coppin State University in Baltimore.
