With continuing coverage of the mystery of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which was the lead story every night last week, the three evening newscasts saw viewer growth compared to the same week last year. All three broadcasts were also up week-to-week in viewers.
“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” which has topped No. 2 “World News with Diane Sawyer” by more than 1 million viewers for 16 of the past 20 weeks, also saw the most year-over-year growth, +11%. “World News” was up +5% and the “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” was up +7%.
All three broadcasts increased their A25-54 average year-over-year by +5%. For the second straight week, “World News” was No. 1 in the demo Friday, leading “Nightly News” by +31,000 viewers.
CBS’s average represents three days (Mon.-Wed.) due to live coverage of NCAA basketball Thursday and Friday.
