CNN's Ed Henry, NBC's Brian Williams and Politico's Mike Allen at Saturday's White House Correspondents Association Dinner.

From our TVNewser spies at this weekend's White House Correspondents Association dinner and related events.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner bailed as guests of CBS at the last minute. We hear Affleck was "really sick."

• ABC's Justice correspondent Jan Crawford Greenberg chatting up Justice Antonin Scalia at the National Journal pre-party. Will Crawford Greenberg be first with the news of the Souter replacement?

Julia Louis Dreyfus spotted texting from her table during the Dinner. We hear she was sending texts to her co-star Wanda Sykes who was on stage as the Dinner's entertainment. (more below)

• A sign of the times -- no dessert and the networks/publications were charged if they ordered more than two bottles of wine per table, which our spy adds, "of course, everyone did."

• FishbowlDC's Christine Delargy and Matt Dornic had the weekend covered from Saturday morning brunch to Sunday morning after-parties.

NAB/RTNDA Attendance Down 20%

RTNDA_4.22.jpg

The 2009 NAB Show/RTNDA conference is underway in Las Vegas this week. And like so many other out-of-town events, the dismal economy is taking a bite out of attendance - down 20% from last year. Last year 105,259 attended. This year there are 83,842 registered attendees.

NewscastStudio.com is covering the NAB show at the convention center as well as the annual RTNDA confab in the adjoining Hilton hotel.

Outgoing RTNDA president Barbara Cochran, wife of ABC News correspondent John Cochran was presented two awards yesterday: an NAB Recognition Award for her 12 years of service to the Radio & TV News Directors Association and RTNDA's John F. Hogan Award for Distinguished Service. More in the press release after the jump

TVNewsers Attend Gridiron Dinner

gibson_3-23b.jpgWhile the President was not in attendance, there were still plenty of politicians and journalists at the annual Gridiron Dinner in Washington, D.C. this weekend.

One tvnewser who graced the Gridiron stage was NBC's Andrea Mitchell, who appeared "in a bear costume introducing a number that lampoons her husband, former Fed chairman Alan Greenspan, to the tune of 'What I Did for Love' from 'A Chorus Line.'"

Another was CBS' Bob Schieffer, who "donned a Stetson to play George W. Bush." "He's in the White House now — not my problem now," he sang to the tune of "In the Jailhouse Now."

FishbowlDC has more highlights from the event, including some shots by VP Biden at President Obama.

Here are some of the faces in the crowd:

Several local newscasters, who headed back to their stations to anchor the 10 or 11 O'Clock shows, were in attendance, including Ernie Anastos and Dari Alexander of WNYW, Sade Baderinwa and Bill Ritter of WABC, and Chris Wragge of WCBS, doing double duty this week for the local station and the network.
