Experian Hitwise: Chris Matthews Plays Hardball

The top two cable-news-show websites for the week ending April 23 were unchanged from the previous week — Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor and MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show — while third place on the Experian Hitwise charts went to MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, which bumped Fox News’ America’s Newsroom off the list.

The late-night talk-show website order was unchanged from the week ending April 16: Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report, trailed by NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The morning news shows finished in their usual order: NBC’s Today, ABC’s Good Morning America, and CBS’ The Early Show.

Broadcast and Cable Report 042311

For the second week in a row, the top three broadcast-network websites were CBS, Fox, and ABC, and the top three broadcast-show sites were Fox’s American Idol, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, and CBS’ Survivor. New entries to the top 25 were NBC’s The Voice (to No. 11 from No. 46), and The CW’s One Tree Hill (25 from 51).

Comedy’s South Park once again took the adults-only cable-show-site crown, but MTV’s 16 & Pregnant surged into second place, dropping The Daily Show to third and bumping Lifetime’s Army Wives off the list. The only new top 25 site was Hardball (19 from 29).

When combining broadcast and cable offerings, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants placed first, followed by Idol, and South Park. 16 & Pregnant was the only new entry into the top 25 (18 from 40).
