Extra Ed Tonight

MSNBC is going to be airing The Ed Show twice tonight – at 6pmET and in Countdown’s normal spot of 8pmET. An MSNBC insider tells us the 8pm edition will have a live first block with the remainder being the 6pm version. “This allows us the opportunity to expose Ed’s show to Keith’s audience,” says an insider.

The reason for the programming change: a memorial service for Keith Olbermann‘s mother is being held and this allows his staff to attend. Marie Olbermann died last Saturday.
