Mass Response to Mass Effect FNC Segment
On Monday's Live Desk with Martha McCallum, the A-List panel and other guests discussed the supposed "full digital nudity and sex" in the XBOX game Mass Effect. Under the chyron, "'SE'XBOX?" all of the guests, except Geoff Keighley of Spike TV, panned the game. One of those, psychologist and author Cooper Lawrence admitted she hadn't played the game. Gamer blogs jumped to the defense of the game. The New York Times' Seth Schiesel writes about the reaction to Lawrence specifically, who has been targeted by fans of Mass Effect. Her Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble book pages have been flooded with negative reviews and tags. Since the interview, she told the Times she has watched the game and changed her mind. "I really regret saying that, and now that I've seen the game and seen the sex scenes it's kind of a joke," she said. Stephen Totilo writes on MTV.com that EA Sports, the game's manufacturer, and FNC are at a standstill. Totilo has quotes from EA Sports and an FNC spokesperson that say each are waiting for each other's response. "EA says it's Fox's turn. Fox says it's EA's turn. Who's going next?," Totilo writes.
