Ford: Fact-Checking The King

A Michigan insider writes to TVNewser:

Larry King had some incorrect info during the opener” of his special tribute to Gerald Ford last night: “He said that Gerald Ford was born Gerald King. He was born Leslie King, and his name was changed to Gerald Ford when his mother remarried.

He also said Gerald Ford refused to meet his real father when he was a young man; not true. His father came to a restaurant where Gerald Ford was a waiter and introduced himself by saying, ‘Son, I’m your father.’

But Larry had a good “get” — Nancy Reagan, who was up top on his show.”
