New York – (December 2, 2013) – Stuart Sucherman, CEO of Sucherman Consulting Group (SCG), the premier boutique consulting and executive search firm for the media and entertainment industries, announced today that Erik Sorenson will become CEO of the firm effective January 1, 2014. Mr. Sucherman will continue his active leadership role as Chairman
of SCG, while turning over day-to-day management to Mr. Sorenson, the new majority owner of the company.
“I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to make this announcement,” said Mr. Sucherman. “While I have known Erik for over 20 years, working with him over the last few years has reinforced my original perception of him. He has proven to be extraordinarily competent and knowledgeable about the ever-changing media landscape, while, at the same time, evidencing a clear understanding of the words ‘values’ and ‘partnership’. This move ensures that SCG will not only provide continuity to its clients but also has a bright and lasting future.”
Stuart Sucherman, who retains an ownership stake in SCG, founded his consulting practice in 1985 and has been a leading adviser to the top executives at many of the major media and entertainment companies in the U.S. In the mid-’90s, SCG expanded its practice, launching a boutique executive search firm, SCG Executive Search, which has helped identify and place
hundreds of leading media and entertainment executives over the past 15-plus years. “I’m excited to become the CEO of SCG and so proud of the work we do and of the values of our practice,” said Mr. Sorenson. “Stuart is a great partner and I’m delighted he will continue to do what he does best: provide daily leadership and vision for our firm, develop new business and continue to advise our clients. His energy and enthusiasm for our industry is legendary and unabated. I’m fortunate that his favorite hobby is understanding and distilling the inner workings of the media industry.”
Mr. Sorenson joined SCG in 2010, was appointed COO in 2011 and became an equity partner in 2012. Before joining SCG, Sorenson had a long career in local radio and television before holding a number of senior executive roles at CBS, NBC, Fox and Time Warner, including President of MSNBC, Executive Producer of the “CBS Evening News with Dan Rather,” and EVP, Programming at Court TV. Mr. Sorenson also ran an Internet publishing company and owned an independent TV production company, which produced programming for ESPN, Discovery, AETN, NBC and MTV.
