Fox News Dominates Ratings as Final Miner Rescued; Tops Broadcasters NBC and FOX Head-to-Head

Last night, just before 9 PM ET, the final miner was pulled from the San Jose mine in Chile. CNN and Fox News Channel carried it live. What were the ratings for those networks during the rescue?
- FNC: 7.066 million total viewers / 1.754M A25-54 (8:16-9 PM)
- CNN: 2.671 million total viewers / 800K A25-54 (8:21-9 PM)
- MSNBC: 1.097 million total viewers / 298K A25-54 (for the entire 8 PM ET hour. MSNBC did not carry the final rescues.)
This is the best performance for Fox News Channel in 2010. And the 7 million viewers Fox News Channel drew is better than its broadcast sibling, “Hell’s Kitchen” on FOX, which drew 6 million viewers. Fox News also topped NBC, which programmed “Undercovers” in that time period, drawing 5.85 million total viewers.
