Not The End Of An Anchorman Era
PBS anchorman Jim Lehrer is becoming a spokesperson for the anchorman era -- and he's telling readers that isn't over yet. His comments in today's Baltimore Sun are a good example:
"I think what's passing are some individuals: Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, Ted Koppel and others. However, you notice they are being replaced and that Brian Williams is still an anchorman. Bob Schieffer is still an anchorman. In some cases, there may be a team of two or three people taking over, but they are still anchoring the news... Everybody's saying, 'Well, it's the end of the anchorman era.' But then there's Brian Williams who's got 10 million people watching him every night, so what the [heck] is that all about?"
