Greta Defends Her Former CNN Show

Greta Van Susteren‘s blog continues to be a source of interest. This time, she writes about the O’Reilly Factor ad which named all the competition that have “come and gone,” since The Factor took over the top spot at 8pmET:

I just saw the Fox ad about my colleague Bill O’Reilly basically putting every cable news show at 8 pm “out of business” by his massive popularity. The ad lists show after show after show at 8 pm (up against his show) that have bitten the dust…however one show listed and one hardworking staff in the list deserves SOME defense and that is The Point at 8 pm on CNN. Yes, that show closed down…but not for failure…it closed because its anchor left! I was the anchor of that show and moved to Fox at 10 pm. The staff on The Point was great (talented and hard working) and the show — less than a year old when I bolted would still be on the air if I had not left. What makes me think that? I am still on the air — now Fox — and we are number one in total viewers at 10 pm!). In short, The Point was successful and while unlikely to beat O’Reilly over time, it was not forced out.
