Jalen Rose Suspended From ESPN For DUI Arrest

ESPN NBA analyst Jalen Rose has been suspended from the network after waiting three weeks before coming forward regarding his DUI arrest on March 11.

“Jalen has accepted full responsibility for his actions. Both parties are taking this very seriously, and as a result, we’ve agreed that he will not be on our air while he addresses this situation,” ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz told USA Today in an email.

Kelly McBride and Regina McCombs of The Poynter Institute wrote Thursday that ESPN learned of Rose’s arrest when his agent called the network as WDIV in Detroit was preparing to break the news.

“Some of the story the agent was telling us was inconsistent with our reporting,” said Vince Doria, ESPN’s senior vice president and director of news.

Great work by McBride and McCombs on the Rose story. If this is a preview of what’s in storer from The Poynter Institute, we’re in for an informative 18 months.
